Hello, welcome to Roomie! This program is a social-connecter app, in the layout of Tinder, using C# ADO.NET MVC and SQL server to connect users to other users for the purpose of finding a roommate and an apartment.

It works like this: A website visitor will open up the page and be greeted with a sign in or register page. After registration, the user is led to the home page. Here the user will be shown their first potential roommate. They are shown a picture of a user as well as their name, city they are looking for, self-made description, and if they own a property or not. The user can choose to like, favorite, or skip the profile. If the current user chooses to favorite the profile, the owner of that profile will be notified with an email. However, if the current user chooses to like the profile, the profile is added to their “liked profiles” list to be viewed later (this also occurs if the profile is favorited). If skipped, a new profile will be shown. After the user has liked or favorited anyone they will gain access to messaging. In the messaging tab, they can send messages back and forth allowing for quick and easy communication.

The user can also go into the apartment section of Roomie. Here they are shown a list of apartments in the area. If they choose to click on one, they are redirected to a page with all the information about the apartment. This includes price, location, a picture of the property, a self-made description section, as well as a Google map satellite location of the property. Here they can click a button to start email correspondence with the property owner or representative.

There are actually two types of users: the renters and the apartment owners. If the user registers as an apartment owner they will be directed to an apartment creation screen. Here they would import all of the apartment information as well as a picture to be shown. Then the apartment is added to the database and they will be contacted through email if anyone wants to communicate with them.

Long story short, Roomie is a connectivity application. It allows for people to connect and potentially move forward in the next step in their life. People need their dating apps, yes, but it’s about time people slowed down and get a bud to split the rent with! It’s time for Roomie!
